Description

The Laser Leather It is a high-quality polyurethane (PU) imitation leather, specifically designed for laser processing. It has the look and feel of natural leather but with significant advantages in terms of quality consistency, thickness uniformity, and ease of maintenance: it is a clean, repeatable industrial material free of the natural variations typical of tanned leather.

The peculiarity of LaserLeather is its two-tone, two-layer structure: a colored surface film applied to a contrasting colored core. When the laser etches the surface, it removes the first layer and exposes the second, creating a color contrast effect Impossible to achieve with natural leather. It's a material designed for high-quality, mass-produced aesthetics.

The brown/black variant

This variant has the surface brown with soul black. When engraved, the black underneath emerges, creating a strong, elegant contrast, suitable for premium contexts, luxury labels, packaging, and fashion accessories.

Applications

LaserLeather is ideal for:

  • Custom labels for clothing and leather goods
  • Keychains and small gift accessories
  • Corporate gadgets and premium merchandising
  • Covers for notebooks, diaries and books
  • ID tags, badges, luggage tags
  • Decorative elements for retail displays
  • Bracelets, necklaces and costume jewelry components
  • Applications on clothing (sewn or glued)

Laser Cutting Instructions for LaserLeather

LaserLeather cuts and engraves very well with the CO2 laser producing clean and sealed edges that do not fray. Unlike natural leather, the edge does not show any color variations or visible charring. The general rules of laser cutting apply:

  • Objects must have a footprint of at least 10 × 10 mm.
  • The elements on the template must be separated by at least 6 mm.
  • Avoid details with width less than 1 mm.
  • Draw using only closed tracks for cutting lines.
  • Engraving is the strong point of this material: you can use medium vector engraving (green color in the template) to achieve a two-tone effect. Raster engravings are particularly effective for fine text, logos, and images.

Format and thickness

LaserLeather is available in sheets 813 × 508 mm, in packs of 5 pieces. Typical thickness: approx. 1 mm.

Care and processing

LaserLeather is easily cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth. It doesn't require any special treatment like natural leather. It can be sewn, glued with PU-specific adhesives, or mechanically fastened with rivets and snaps. Sewing holes can be laser-cut to facilitate the passage of needle and thread.

LaserLeather vs natural leather

If you need a material for serial production with consistent quality and contrasting color effects, LaserLeather is the ideal choice. If you are looking for a material natural, ecological, with the typical characteristics of authentic leather (perfume, natural grain, noble aging), evaluate our vegetable tanned leather [LINK TO UPDATE with the corresponding page still active].
