Year: 2025
The Premio Aurea is the award Schüco PWS Italia gives to architecture projects built with its PVC systems. For the 2025 edition the trophies were designed by Stefano Boeri Interiors: a disc engraved like a sundial, with its gnomon, which rests on a travertine cone for the first prize and sits tilted inside a box for the other three.
The studio involved us in spring 2025. The work started from materials: together with the designers we assessed several options and prepared samples to show the client. Then a first study model in 3D printing, made in two parts, to try the sundial in a different material from the body.
The next prototype, in milled and engraved plexiglass, set the final solution. Over the following months, through meetings in our lab and in their studio, we refined with the designers the stepped profile of the disc, the satin finish and its seating on the inclined surface of the box, and carried out fitting tests on the cones.
We made four trophies: first, second and third prize, plus the new award for public architecture. The ceremony was held in Rome on 10 October 2025. An account of the evening, with photos of the trophies, is on AD Italia.
