Year: 2023 – 2026
The Premio Andersen is Italy’s most important award for children’s and young adult books, their authors, illustrators and publishers. Since 1982 it has been promoted by Andersen magazine, a monthly magazine of news and criticism on children’s books: the winners are chosen by the editorial team after a year of reading, with no submissions. The ceremony takes place at the end of May in the Sala del Minor Consiglio of Palazzo Ducale, in Genoa.
In 2023 the award replaced its plaques with a statuette, and since then we have made it every year, for every winner. The statuette takes its form from the award’s visual identity: a shaped figure in plexiglass 12 mm thick and clear, with red plexiglass details.
The writer Matteo Corradini, a winner in 2018 and 2024, devoted a short text to it, Perché l’Andersen è trasparente, on how light passes through the figure and leaves only its outline glowing.
2026 is our fourth edition. The June 2026 issue of the magazine carries our advertisement, designed especially for it, aggiungere / sottrarre.
