Year: 2014 - 2022
CoderBot is a robot for teaching programming to children aged six and up. It began as an open-source project by Roberto Previtera, and the University of Milano-Bicocca adopted it as a research and teaching tool. Inside is a Raspberry Pi, with a camera, distance sensors, a microphone and a speaker.
From 2014 to 2022 we looked after its production, alongside Roberto. The longest work was on the laser-cut wooden case. We revised it several times to make it sturdier in the classroom and quicker to produce, and we also tried metal versions. With Roberto we sourced the electronics suppliers, checked incoming batches and tested components before assembly. Then came assembly and kits: about two hundred robots in eight years, including those from the 2018 crowdfunding campaign.
The robots went to educators and teachers. In recent years we delivered them to Periplo, the training studio that took the licence to run workshops with CoderBot.
