Material details

Valchromat for CNC milling: a wood fiber panel colored through its entire thickness.

In stock in red and purple, 19 mm thick; other colors and thicknesses on request.

Description

Valchromat is a wood fiber panel colored through: the fibers are dyed before pressing, so the color runs through the entire thickness. After milling, edges, joints and engravings are the same color as the faces, with no painting.

Compared with MDF it is denser and stronger and handles humidity better, while remaining an indoor material. The surface has a slightly mottled look, typical of the fibers; it can be sanded and treated with oil or wax, which bring out the color.

Where we used it

For Portineria abusiva, a project of the NABA Master in Interior Design, we milled house-shaped structures in colored Valchromat, assembled with joints alone: the solid color of the joints becomes part of the design.

Notes for milling

Engravings follow the same depths as the other panels: magenta lines at 25%, green at 50% and red at 75% of the thickness. Edges are finished after milling.

Colors and thicknesses

In stock: red and purple, 19 mm thick. We order the other colors and thicknesses in the range for each project, as with the other panels for milling. For a quote, write to us.

Typical uses

Exposed furniture and installation elements, displays, interlocking structures, signage, games and objects for children.
