Description

What is it?

Cork is an agglomerated material with a low density but with a compact structure. Elastic, floating and waterproof.
It is a natural material, and the cells that make up the sheets can take different colors, from yellow to dark brown.

Notes for the design

This cork has a low density, therefore tends to crumble.
Given the non-homogeneous surface of the cells of this natural material, some details may be not very visible with light incisions (both raster and vector).
It is not advisable to make parts that are too small or detailed, given the consistency of the material that can leave inaccurate edges.

The edges become black and leave soot, they can be cleaned with a cloth.

Examples of use

Components and bearings for mechanical projects, but also objects such as notice boards, trivets, coasters and placemats. Architectural models, wall coverings and many other uses for different hobbies.

Ecological information

The bark is extracted from cork oaks without damaging the tree, allowing a new bark to regenerate. Each cork oak is therefore a renewable source of this material.

Gluing, joints and fixings

Multi-purpose glues, pins, double-sided tape.
